Bregenz Center
Project coordination for the master plan
The centrally located area surrounding the new central station is set to develop into an urban, diverse, and vibrant neighborhood. Making this area an integral part of the city and connecting it to the surrounding urban spaces (Quellenviertel, Vorkloster, the lakefront, and downtown) presents a unique opportunity. The focus here is on appropriately small-scale parceling of the urban building blocks.
In addition to the development of new buildings and amenities, particular emphasis is placed on creating attractive and engaging public spaces that are pleasantto visit and linger in, as well as on developing new pedestrian routes.
The city of Bregenz is holding an urban planning competition through the end of 2022, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares, which will subsequently be consolidated into a master plan.
In its role as project coordinator, gbd serves as a link between the various stakeholders, ensuring that results are coordinated and that information is effectively communicated. The Vienna-based firm RAUMPOSITION is providing process support for the urban design competition. The master plan can be implemented over the long term, with a timeframe of approximately 20 to 30 years.
