The Albern Harbor Gate serves as flood protection for the harbor of the same name and is designed to keep its cargo-handling facilities free of floodwater. The harbor gate is designed as a sliding gate and is operated by an electromechanical rack-and-pinion drive mounted on the top of the gate. The submitted structural analysis of the harbor gate and its drive system has been reviewed.
